Bread & Butter Pudding

1/2 cup Golden Raisins

1/3 cup of Irish Whiskey

8 slices White Bread

4 tbs Butter

3 cups cream, milk or half & half

4 Eggs

1 tsp Vanilla

1 cup Sugar

a pinch of salt

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1/4 tsp cinnamon

Put raisins in a cup and add enough whiskey to cover. Let soak for at least one hour.

Butter a large pie pan or 9" square baking dish.

In a large bowl, whisk eggs, cream, sugar, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon.

Butter one side of each piece of bread. Arrange bread buttered side down in prepared baking dish, allowing pieces to overlap. Drain raisins, and drink leftover whiskey. Sprinkle raisins and pour egg mixture over bread. Allow to soak for 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350F. Place baking dish in a large pan. Create a water bath by filling the pan with enough water to reach halfway up the sides of the baking dish. Bake for 60 minutes, or until pudding is set and the top is golden.

Remove from oven and water bath and allow to cool slightly. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
