Best Websites for Dreaming of Ireland

Irish Fireside Podcast to Celebrate Top Ten Websites for Dreaming About Ireland

Milwaukee, WI  (February 22, 2007) – The internet’s leading Irish travel podcast program, Irish Fireside (www.IrishFireside.com), will release a list of the 10 best websites for dreaming about a trip to Ireland March 1st.  Winning sites take visitors on a panoramic 360-degree phototour of Ireland, to a television station broadcasting in Gaelic, and on a walking tour of Dublin.  The monthly podcast, Irish Fireside, launched just one year ago by Milwaukee’s Corey Taratuta and Liam Hughes, regularly joins the ranks of podcasts from National Geographic, Fodors, Frommers, and other widely-known travel resources at the iTunes Music Store top 25 travel sites.

The Irish Fireside hosts, Taratuta and Hughes are longtime Ireland enthusiasts who now own a bed and breakfast in Knockahopple in Ireland and have created a number of downloadable walking tours around the Emerald Isle. In each episode, the duo explores destinations in Ireland and provides insight into Irish culture and history.

The pair have been soliciting suggestions for the top websites from loyal monthly listeners, now numbering over 1500.  “From literally hundreds of nominations, we chose the top websites that give visitors unique Irish experiences,” said Liam Hughes, co-host of Irish Fireside.  “Our listeners are always looking for ways to get their Ireland fix. This list lets them do it without buying a plane ticket.”

Sites were chosen based on content, innovative use of medium, and the likelihood of impacting a virtual traveler’s experience.  In addition to announcing the top 10 sites on their website, they will also produce a special podcast episode on March 7th podcast.

Among the sites taking top honors; www.TG4.com, Ireland’s Gaelic-speaking television station, was recognized for offering their television programs online with English subtitles. Other winners included www.Ireland360.com, showcasing 360-degree interactive panoramas of Ireland; the weekly e-zine, www.IrelandsEye.com, www.iWalks.com, Dublin’s downloadable walking tours, and Tourism Ireland’s My Ireland trip planning web feature.
